quirky little things...

(Yay!!! My camera is fixed!!!)

So he was a little bored today...boxes are always fun...!

Little Miss Climber! Can't turn my back on this girl for a minute these days!!

Yes, the costume is 3 sizes too big; no we won't be returning it. That's why God made safety pins I guess... It didn't come in a child's size for under $50 so we went with the cheapie adult XS. Just gets us more use this way (for the next 8 years or so...)... He didn't want mom attempting a knock off that would actually fit (I was thinking some black sweats and spray paint!) so we compromised on the gi-normous polyester one... He's quite happy.

Even after a stressful week, and a day that I'd like to just plain forget, my kids still help me keep my sense of humor... Tonight, as we're getting into bed, Christian tells me,

"Mom, sometimes you and Dad make me so mad...I just...I just want to run away." (After he'd been told multiple times today that no, Trent could not spend the night, but we will see him tomorrow...)

"Really?I'm sorry you feel that way...Where would you go?"

*sigh* "Well... Hmm... (silence)... That's the problem..." (end of discussion on his part) ???

Apparently things aren't so terrible for him that the alternative is more appealing than staying here with mean old mom and dad... Disneyland isn't taking in any runaways these days, so there really aren't a whole lot of better options I guess. I was expecting to hear "Grammi and Papa's", but knowing my realist son, he probably soon recognized that even that would mean missing his family eventually.

And as we finished saying prayers, I tucked them into bed only for Dyl to realize that he hadn't remembered his "fings" (things). What started out as going to bed with one special toy, has somehow multiplied into an array of treasured necessities. So not only did I tuck in a little boy, but a kitty, i-dog, rope, plastic elephant (that Grammie found in the dirt), and "backpack" containing two leapsters, a Diego toy, an airplane, and a few miscellaneous items. Should I be worried about this behavior? Hmmm...quirky child...

Then there's Shelbs. She eats dirt. No, I don't mean like, it gets in her mouth a little when she plays, or, she tastes dirt... I mean at the boys' baseball games she literally grabs handfuls of dirt and shoves it all in her mouth, never even flinching. And I can't seem to deter her at all... As soon as I turn away, she's at it again!! She gets incredibly filthy and it's absolutely disgusting... So I either laugh...or cry!! These crazy kids of mine, always keeping me on my toes... Maybe someday I'll eat dirt too, then sleep with all of my possessions and run away... Or maybe I'll just miss it when it's passed...

Poor miss shelbilynn - what kind of grammi's does she have that won't even buy her a princess hat? Papa and I love seeing these, we wait for them to come out. No doubt about it, we have the 5 most beautiful grandchildren in the world!!

Super funny! What happend to Dylans snake?

The other Day, Joe was singing this little light of mine...."Don't let Savor boke it out...I am going to let it shine..." Kids are a gift, I keep reminding myself!

Great entry, Kati! I love the dirt eating. My mom's oldest sister was once caught by my grandma feeding her other older sister sand...by the spoonful. My grandma scolded Barb, and her response was, "But she likes it, mom."

Apparently kids have eated dirt for the last 50+ years, and I'm sure they will continue to do so for the next 150 years!

I love your stories!

Take care,
Jenny
