Oh what a week!! History Camp has quickly become one of the highlights of our year...and for good reason. It is a blast. A whole week at Pioneer Village with our charter, reliving the old west...prairie dresses and all :) This year we did so many great things... panning for gold, cooking over the open fire, blacksmithing, candle making, animal print tracking, bow and arrow and gun shooting...yes, life was good. It's a long week, but oh so worth it. And again on the last day, the school buses came filing in and our kids got to run the stations teaching all of the other kids about the old west. Dylan was a hoot at the game table. As the kids were rolling the ball to knock down the pins, he was cheering and hollerin' for each of them, "Whoa, nice one!!" or, "so close...come try again!!" ...good thing he wasn't really a child of the 1800's because I could just see him running a gambling table in a saloon during the gold rush...
Christian got to teach outdoor games again, and this year it was croquet and badminton. He was thrilled. Especially since their job was to demonstrate the entire 3 hours, as the other kids were not permitted to actually participate. Bummer. And of course, then there was miss Shelbi. She kept me running for most of the 4 days. That girl can really bolt. All of the other moms were utterly amazed at just how quickly she can disappear...faster than a speeding bullet that girl. And when she's on a mission watch out. More than once I heard, "umm, can you come get Shelbi?? She's way over here!"... good thing they all know her or I'd be labeled quite the neglectful mommy...
Yep, super fun week. Everything else in this house has fallen to pieces, but it was worth it!! I can't believe it's time for Halloween...then Thanksgiving and the Holidays!! Where does the time go??!? Makes me ever so grateful that I can say we really get to enjoy every minute of it... (ok, ALMOST every minute ;)...

This looks like SO MUCH FUN. Logan was peeking over my shoulder while I was looking at your pictures. He was the most impressed by the shotgun! lol!
OK, I can't wait to do the spring camp! I am so glad the kids had fun. I love the part where you think Dylan would be a saloon owner if he lived in the Wild West, hahaha!
Thanks so much for popping by with your super sweet words! Any friend of Sunny and Patti is a friend of mine:) SO cool that you are all homeschooling. I wish to do that too someday!
Your family is beautiful and I really enjoyed reading about your adopted daughter in your post "the voice of truth". So very cool and I admire your great courage in taking on a potential heartbreak. So happy it all turned out well!
The camera I use is a Canon 40D and I use a 50mm lens. If you set the aperature(one of the camera settings) really low, it gives the blurred background!
